Varsity Stack is a supplement app built for athletes. It shows the certification status of every product, gives recommendations built on how you train, and lets coaches and sports dietitians see every athlete's stack.
Update, September 2026. This is our launch post, kept as written. A year on, the app is out of beta and free on the App Store and Google Play, BSCG Certified Drug Free has joined NSF Certified for Sport and Informed Sport in the database, and everything in the "what's coming next" list below has shipped. The certification references have been brought up to date; the rest stands as published.
Most supplement apps offer generic stacks, unverified products, and zero connection to how you actually train. Varsity Stack is different, and this is the story of why we built it.
What problem did we keep seeing?
Athletes face a set of challenges that general wellness apps don't address:
- Certification compliance. Under NCAA, USADA, WADA and other anti-doping rules, athletes are responsible for what they take. A contaminated product holds something that should not be in it, and one can mean a positive test. Tested, certified supplements lower that risk. The stakes are real.
- Nobody knows what is actually certified. Athletes take products on a teammate's recommendation with no idea whether the batch was ever tested for banned substances. A batch is one production run.
- Generic advice doesn't fit. The right recommendation depends on your sport, your position and how you train, whether you lift three days a week or run a 90-mile training week.
We kept hearing the same frustration from athletes, coaches and sports dietitians: the tools don't match the problem.
What does Varsity Stack do differently?
Certification first. You see whether a product is certified by NSF Certified for Sport, Informed Sport or BSCG Certified Drug Free before anything else.
Recommendations built on your training. Your sport, position, training block and goals shape your recommendations, and each one links to a specific certified product.
Built for teams too. Coaches and sports dietitians can see every athlete's stack and whether each product is certified.
What were we building toward?
At launch we were in beta with a growing group of athletes and teams, working toward three things. All three have since shipped:
- Ingredient review: full ingredient panels for staff.
- Team dashboard: onboarding for athletic departments. Request access.
- A bigger certification database: BSCG Certified Drug Free joined NSF Certified for Sport and Informed Sport.
